Utilizing knowledge of various scientific disciplines, researchers in this area may collect, study and report data on the quality of air, food, soil and water.

Epidemiology Research

Programs that conduct research which focuses on disease, disability and trauma patterns within and across populations and the development of health management mechanisms to prevent and control disease outbreaks and injurious behaviors. Included are the study of biostatistics, biochemistry, molecular biology immunology, disease and injury determinants, genetic diseases and disability factors, behavioral studies, health services research, environmental disease and injury factors, and population studies.

Programs that conduct basic and applied research which focuses on human diseases with the objective of improving human health through the development of vaccines, medicines and other forms of treatment.

Pharmacology Research

Programs that conduct research which focuses on drug interactions on biological systems and organisms, and the sources, chemical properties, biological effects and therapeutic uses of drugs.
