Description:
S.T.A.R.S program (Success Through Arts, Reading and Sports) serving children in after-school and children during the summer. The program is designed to promote positive growth and development in elementary school-aged children through literacy development, arts, sports, and social skills development. The program incorporates literacy activities, recreational activities, cultural enrichment field trips, health and wellness, and family involvement.
After-school participants come from the following seven (7) elementary schools located in North Central and North West Miami-Dade County: Broadmoor, Orchard Villa , Van E. Blanton , Dr. Robert B. Ingram, Nathan B. Young, Lillie C. Evans, Lake View and Lenora B. Smith. One (1) summer camp location at FCAA DD Simpson Family and Youth Complex in Opa-Locka.
Geographic areas /neighborhoods served consistently rank as high crime, high poverty and low academic achievement areas within Miami-Dade County .
Summer camp dates: June 9h - August 1th, 2025
