The Skill-building, Training, Empowerment, and a Pathway Forward Program (STEP) is an AT NO COST program designed for youth with documented disabilities, offering skills training, mentorship, and a clear path to career readiness.
STEP Forward Center guides youth in answering, !€œWhat comes after high school?!€ with a focus on:

Career Exposure Services
Site Visits: Explore & Job shadow various industries by visiting our businesses and local companies to observe different careers and work environments.
Interactive Workshops: Participate in hands-on, industry-specific workshops for a deeper understanding of various professions.

Career Exploration Services
Soft Skills Development: Build crucial employability skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Digital Literacy: Gain essential computer skills to thrive in today!€™s tech-driven job market.
Strengths & Interests Discovery: Identify your strengths and align them with potential career paths.
Career Exploration: Engage with guest speakers, workshops, and career fairs to explore different professions.
Career Experience Services
Internships & Short-Term Employment: Gain real-world experience through
Internships and short-term jobs with local businesses, tailored to your career interests.

Intake Process:

The intake process for the STEP Forward program is designed to ensure eligibility, gauge interest, and provide families with a clear understanding of what the program offers. Here's an overview of the process:

1. Initial Phone Interview
The process begins with a phone interview conducted with the parent/guardian (and the youth if applicable).
During the call, we:
Explain the program's goals, services, and expectations.
Confirm eligibility by verifying:
Age (15!€“21).
Documented disability (e.g., IEP, 504 Plan, or other qualifying documentation).
Interest in training, employability skills, and personal development.
Gauge the family!€™s and youth!€™s interest in pursuing enrollment.
2. Facility Tour and Paperwork (If Interested)
If the parent/guardian expresses continued interest after the phone interview:
The Success Coach schedules an in-person meeting with the family.
During this visit:
A guided tour of the facility is provided to familiarize the family with the program environment and services.
Both the parent/guardian and youth complete the necessary enrollment paperwork, which includes:
Registration forms.
Program agreements.
Authorization forms (e.g., data collection and other required consents).
3. Next Steps
Once the paperwork is submitted and eligibility is confirmed, the Success Coach begins working with the family to:
Establish a start date for the youth.
Identify any missing documentation that may need follow-up (e.g., ID, proof of disability).
This step-by-step process ensures a smooth and personalized introduction to the STEP Forward program while building a foundation of trust and understanding between the family and our team.
