Programs that offer workshops or other forms of training or support which help participants develop effective negotiation skills and understand the settings in which they can be used. Topics may include an overview of the negotiation process, knowing when and when not to negotiate, developing an effective plan and strategy for a negotiation, developing contingency plans and "what if" scenarios, defining the expectations that must be met before success is possible, identifying sources of power, creating a win-win situation, understanding negotiation styles and one's own natural style, mastering questioning techniques that pinpoint the deal-makers, negotiation in specific settings (face-to-face, on the phone, through e-mail) and how and when to declare success. Some workshops may focus on specific types of negotiations, e.g., contract negotiations, labor negotiations, purchasing negotiations, sales negotiations.
