Description:
This is a diversionary program for juveniles arrested for a misdemeanor offense. The process provides a forum for defendants to explain their involvement in the offense. It provides a structured environment in which the words and actions of the offender are evaluated and judged by a jury of their peers. The defendant is provided the opportunity to accept responsibility for his/her actions by fulfilling a jury's sentence of community service hours and future jury duty assignments, both of which are designed to be constructive and rehabilitative. A judge exercises control and legal guidance of the proceedings.
