Description:

Provides suicide prevention, information, assessment and referral to people in need, including homeless. When required, callers are also assisted by linking them with the appropriate agencies and/or by providing advocacy to help them negotiate the maze of services.

Also provides telephone counseling, crisis intervention for individuals of all ages experiencing personal problems, emotional distress, thoughts of suicide and emergencies such as drug overdoses. Trained staff use active listening and non-directive counseling techniques.

Collects and maintains the community health and human services resource database for Palm Beach County, Indian River County, St Lucie County, Martin County and Okeechobee County.
